Two Nintendo Games Certified by CGC Impress in Heritage Sale

Several CGC-certified video games realized five figures in a recent Heritage Auctions sale, including two that became some of the highest-selling copies of their franchises on Heritage’s platform. These games were just a few of the CGC-certified games offered in Heritage’s Video Games Signature Auction, which ended on August 22-23, 2025.
The top CGC-certified game in the sale was a sealed Final Fantasy III for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (1994) graded CGC 9.8 A++ (lot 28042) that realized $45,000, which is the third highest-selling copy on Heritage Auctions’ platform. This copy of Final Fantasy III was also the highest-graded copy of the game to be offered on Heritage Auctions' platform, beating out 23 other examples that had been sold previously. Though named “Final Fantasy III” in North America, Final Fantasy III is actually a port of Final Fantasy VI, renamed to maintain continuity since only two previous Final Fantasy titles had released in North America at the time.

Additionally, a sealed Pokémon Blue Version for the Game Boy (1998) graded CGC 9.6 A++ (lot 28064) realized $35,000. Like Final Fantasy III, this game was one of the highest-graded copies offered on Heritage’s platform, coming second only to a copy graded CGC 9.8 A++ that sold for six figures in May 2025. This copy of the iconic Generation I Pokémon game stands out as a first-production copy, confirmed by the misprint that incorrectly refers to the game as “Red Version” on the back. Along with Pokémon Red Version, Pokémon Blue Version went on to jump-start one of the world’s most successful multimedia franchises.
