Popular CGC-certified NES Games to Watch in Upcoming Heritage Sale

A sealed Super Mario Bros. 3 and a sealed The Legend of Zelda are among dozens of CGC-certified video games that will be offered in the May sale.

Two early production copies of popular NES games certified by CGC® are drawing attention ahead of the start of a Heritage Auctions sale. They are just two of more than a hundred CGC-certified video games being offered in Heritage’s May Video Games Signature Auction. Online bidding is set to begin in early May, with the auction ending on May 23-24, 2025.

A sealed Super Mario Bros. 3 for the Nintendo Entertainment System (1990) graded CGC 9.6 A+ is turning heads. It is a “Left Bros.” early production variant of the iconic Mario game, which totals only about 8% of the entire production cycle of Super Mario Bros. 3. Notable for its gameplay innovations and cultural impact, Super Mario Bros. 3 is regarded as one of the greatest games ever released for the NES.

Additionally, a sealed The Legend of Zelda for the Nintendo Entertainment System (1987) graded CGC 9.4 A+ and pedigreed to the Waterford Collection is being offered in the Heritage sale. As of April 2025, it is the highest-graded first production copy of The Legend of Zelda to be offered by Heritage Auctions.
