CGC Video Games Introduces New Player: Kenneth Thrower

Kenneth Thrower, previously chief grader and co-founder of another third-party video game grading service, is joining the CGC team as Video Game Grading Finalizer.

The Certified Collectibles Group® (CCG®) is thrilled that a new player has joined CGC Video Games™ as a Grading Finalizer: Kenneth Thrower! A lifelong collector, Thrower was previously the chief grader and one of the co-founders of another well-known third-party video game grading service. The knowledge and experience that he brings further solidifies CGC Video Games' position as the new industry leader in video game certification.

“I am proud to be joining CCG, the first choice in collectibles grading worldwide," Thrower said. "I look forward to adding my expertise to the video games segment and helping develop future grading services for emerging collectibles."

Thrower began collecting when he was five, when his grandfather gave him a huge glass jug filled with coins. Collecting Hot Wheels taught him to look for variants and condition. He would visit pawn shops and yard sales to collect video games, inserts and manuals, and used the NintendoAge community to obtain games that weren’t as easy to find in the wild or even on eBay. In 2017, he co-founded a third-party grading service for video games.

In addition to collecting, Thrower has always had a knack for grading; he even won a few coin grading contests at the Florida United Numismatists (FUN) Show as a kid — and even grew up with a dream of becoming a grader with Numismatic Guaranty Company® (NGC®), CCG's third-party coin grading service.

When asked about the most exciting video game he owns, Thrower shared that he has the finest-known copy of a first print black box test market Super Mario Bros. for the Nintendo Entertainment System. He also collects movies and music, and enjoys restoring classic cars. (He is currently working on a Jurassic Park jeep!) A Florida native, Thrower likes to explore the Sunshine State and learn about its history.

Thrower’s passion for and strong background in all things collectibles makes him a perfect fit at CCG and CGC Video Games.
