Dozens of classic video games certified by CGC Video Games™ are being offered in an upcoming Heritage Auctions sale, including a rare Stadium Events cartridge for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Online bidding for Heritage’s Video Games Signature Auction is already underway, with the auction set to conclude July 27-28, 2023.
Leading the CGC-certified video games in the auction is a sealed Sonic the Hedgehog for the Sega Genesis (1991) graded CGC 9.4 A+ (lot 28121). This sealed variant is an early production of the game, which is hard to come by sealed, let alone in fantastic condition. Bidding had already exceeded $14,000 over a week before the sale.

Meanwhile, a Stadium Events cartridge for the Nintendo Entertainment System (1987) graded CGC 6.5 (lot 28046) is turning heads. Early into the first release of Stadium Events, Nintendo acquired the rights to the game and decided to rebrand it. Subsequent releases were titled “World Class Track Meet.” Actual Stadium Events cartridges are extremely rare and are considered one of the rarest and most sought-after games for the NES.
