CGC Video Games CIB Guide Coming Soon!
CGC Video Games™ is excited to announce that its graders have been working on a comprehensive guide to "complete in box" (CIB) video game collecting, and the initial release is coming soon!
CIB collecting is one of the most popular ways to collect video games. However, CIB collecting has recently become more complicated with the increased recognition of video game variants: copies of a video game that differ either slightly or dramatically from a subsequent re-release of the same title. For example, some Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) games have cartridges with five screws, while other cartridges of the same title might have three screws. On the Super Nintendo, it is not uncommon to find games that have both "Made in Japan" and "Made in Mexico" variants. Some video games have "Not for Resale" variants.
With all of these different variants in circulation, it can be difficult to collect and build a CIB copy of a game with all of the correct components, including the correct box, cartridge, manual and — if applicable — game-specific inserts. That is where the CGC Video Games CIB Guide comes in.
The CIB Guide will provide component blueprints for matching boxes, cartridges, manuals and game-specific inserts — everything CIB collectors need to elevate their collections. All known variants are included in the guide, and as more are discovered, updates will be made to ensure the CGC Video Games CIB Guide is the most accurate and detailed guide available.
The first section of the CIB Guide, covering the NES, will be published soon. Follow @CGCvideogames and look out for its release!
