The eBay auction is set to end on Monday, December 12, 2022 at 7:01 p.m. EST.
Super Mario Bros. 3 has several production variants. This example has an oval Nintendo Seal of Quality with a copyright symbol and a three-country warranty (USA/Canada/Mexico) on the side of the box.
Super Mario Bros. 3 was released in North America on February 12, 1990. It received positive reviews from players and critics alike for its challenging gameplay, winning it several awards and earning it the title of one of the greatest video games of all time. The positive reception also earned Super Mario Bros. 3 several re-releases on future systems, including the Game Boy Advance, the Wii Virtual Console, the Nintendo 3DS and the NES Classic Edition.
“This is the first CGC-graded video game to come to market, and it is performing admirably,” commented Matt McClellan, Senior Video Game Grading Finalizer for CGC Video Games. “This will be a true indication of the trust that collectors put in CGC Video Games — and CGC as a whole — for accurate authentication, grading and encapsulation services.”
CGC Video Games, the newest division of Certified Guaranty Company® (CGC®) began accepting submissions in October 2022, and has already graded important games across several systems, such as this copy of The Legend of Zelda for NES. By providing state-of-the-art authentication, grading and encapsulation services, the CGC Video Games team will help ensure that timeless video game titles survive for posterity.
