Heritage Offers The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Collector's Edition Certified by CGC Video Games

Pre-orders for the game were so popular that retailers had to shut down pre-sales.

Dozens of modern and classic video games certified by CGC Video Games™ are being offered in an upcoming Heritage Auctions sale, including an impressive sealed example of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for the Nintendo 64. Online bidding is already underway for the Tuesday Video Games Mini-Boss Select Auction, which is set to end on April 4, 2023.

The sealed copy of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for the Nintendo 64 (1998) Collector’s Edition is graded CGC 9.4 A++ (lot 66090), an impressive feat for a collectible over 20 years old. Described as one of the greatest games of all time, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time took several risks to give players a fresh experience, including 3D visuals and new gameplay mechanics. 

North American customers were able to pre-order Ocarina of Time. Those who did so received the Collector’s Edition, which came with a golden cartridge — a throwback to the gold-colored cartridge from the Legend of Zelda for NES — and a limited-edition box. So many people pre-ordered the game that retailers had to cease pre-selling the game. Because of this, the Collector’s Edition is extremely rare and valuable to collectors. 

CGC Video Games and Collectibles Authentication Guaranty® (CAG®) collaborated to grade the entire pre-order experience for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, including the Collector’s Edition of the game, a special Zelda-themed retail bag, stickers and a poster.
