CGC Video Games Looks Forward to Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's Release
Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet are almost here, and the community is looking forward to the promise of a new adventure with an all-new story, new Pokémon and a grand region to explore. The games are set to release exclusively for the Nintendo Switch worldwide on November 18, 2022.
The newest entry in the beloved Pokémon series takes place in the Paldea region: a vast multi-biome land based on the Iberian Peninsula in southwestern Europe. With each new region comes new Pokémon, and several have already been revealed. Players will get to meet Lechonk, the Pig Pokémon, in the grasslands, Greavard, the Ghost Dog Pokémon, in graveyards, and Klawf, the Ambush Pokémon in rocky areas.
Scarlet and Violet introduce several long-anticipated mechanics and world-building experiences that set the games apart from their predecessors. Unlike previous installments, Paldea is completely open world, meaning that players will be able to explore the region freely without restrictions from story objectives. Nintendo has also confirmed the addition of four-player multiplayer, free battling mechanics and Terastallization — the newest Pokémon-altering mechanic following Mega-Evolution, Z-moves and Dynamax / Gigantamax.
Along with these new mechanics, Pokémon fans will continue to enjoy several returning mechanics including trainer battles, the gym challenge and more. Pokémon continues to keep the core values it introduced back in 1998 with the North American releases of Red and Blue for the Game Boy, including collecting every Pokémon for the Pokédex, trading and battling with other trainers and everything else that keeps Pokémon true to its origins.
“CGC Video Games is excited for the newest release in such an influential series,” said Matt McClellan, Senior CGC Video Games Grading Finalizer. “We’re certain that collectors will want to take advantage of our expert authentication and certification services to preserve their copies after purchase. Our graders are ready to certify individual copies of either Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet.”
