Kenneth Thrower Promoted to CGC Video Games and CGC Home Video Director of Grading
The Certified Collectibles Group® (CCG®) is pleased to announce the promotion of Kenneth Thrower to Director of Grading of CGC Video Games™ and CGC Home Video™.)
Thrower has been instrumental to CGC Video Games' position as an industry leader in video game expertise. Using his prior experience as a co-founder of another third-party grading service for video games, Thrower has brought a strong knowledge base to CGC Video Games, both during and after the company's launch. Thrower continues to bring his A-game to CGC Video Games by expanding the grading service's offerings to the community with resources such as the CGC Video Games Complete in Box (CIB) Guide.
Not long after CGC Video Games was up and running, Thrower was instrumental in the launch of CGC Home Video in May 2023. In a short time, CGC Home Video evolved from not only grading VHS and Betamax videocassettes to certifying all kinds of home media collectibles, including DVDs and Blu-ray discs. Thrower is credited with finding and establishing the Motor City Collection pedigree — CGC Home Video's first pedigree collection — which contains thousands of sealed collectibles, 370 of which have been certified by CGC Home Video. The Motor City Collection has accounted for many of CGC Home Video's top prices in auction.

Thrower began collecting when he was five years old, starting with a glass jar of coins gifted to him by his grandfather. His later endeavor of collecting Hot Wheels taught Thrower how to evaluate collectibles for variants and condition. By visiting pawn shops and yard sales, Thrower began to amass a collection of video games, including inserts and manuals. In addition to collecting, Thrower has a knack for grading; his victories in coin grading contests at the Florida United Numismatists (FUN) Show as a kid established his dedication to the craft.
